Jasper SkyTram Admission

Jasper SkyTram is located 7 kilometers southwest of Jasper off Highway 93 at the end of Whistlers Road. From Jasper, follow the Icefields Parkway south 2 km, turn right on Whistlers Road and proceed up the mountain to the Jasper SkyTram lower station.

Jasper SkyTram provides an experience unlike any other in Canada. Jasper SkyTram whisks people to an alpine, upper station located at 2,263 m, for easy access to an accessible, interpretive boardwalk. Try a hike along the 1.4 km Whistlers Summit Trail to reach the top of Whistlers Mountain at 2,463 m. On a clear day, view a 360° panorama of six mountain ranges and Mount Robson in British Columbia - the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Jasper SkyTram is located 7 km southwest of Jasper townsite in Jasper National Park, which is an integral part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There is a tramway cabin departing both the upper and lower stations every nine (9) minutes during the busiest times.

Trips up the mountain work the same way as airplane flights. When you purchase your Jasper SkyTram ticket, you will be given specific travel times, then sit back and relax.

Down flight times are booked in advance when flight tickets are issued. We suggest a one to two hour visit to the upper station area to allow for a hike, to enjoy the scenery or a visit to the café. The last tram cabin down is one hour after the last scheduled departure time going to the top.

Each Jasper SkyTram cabin is staffed with a trained operator who provides information on the unique geology; cultural heritage; and the flora/fauna in the area to help visitors gain an appreciation of the unique mountain landscape. Visitors are welcome to ask questions about the area or anything they see on the journey up the mountain.

Jasper SkyTram is accessible by all motor vehicles including RVs and buses. Jasper SkyTram has a large parking lot with designated parking stalls for tour buses and RVs. Parking is free while visiting Jasper SkyTram.

Reservations are recommended to guarantee travel up the mountain and confirmed times down from the upper station. Specific flight times will be assigned when a group reservation is made. Pick up tickets at the Reservations window a minimum of 20 minutes prior to flight departure time. Failure to do so will result in an adjustment for the departure times according to tram cabin availability.

For the comfort of visitors, Jasper SkyTram limits each tram cabin to 25 passengers plus one operator. Groups larger than 25 people will be split into multiple cabins for the journey up the mountain.

Compared to the town of Jasper which sits at much lower elevation, the temperature is on average 2°C cooler at the Jasper SkyTram lower station and 12°C cooler at the upper station. Jasper SkyTram recommends that visitors bring extra clothing layers to keep warm/cool in all temperatures. Begin with a wicking layer, then a warmth layer, and finally, a waterproof/windproof layer. Weather changes in the mountains are often unpredictable and quick.

For the most part, Jasper SkyTram is wheelchair accessible. Exceptions are: The second floor of the upper station (where the Summit Cafe is housed) is not wheelchair accessible. There are approximately 20 stairs to the second floor. The 1.4 km Whistlers Summit Trail from the upper station to the summit is not wheelchair accessible.

Dogs are allowed on the Jasper SkyTram and require a Dog admission ticket be purchased at time of booking.
